Today, the school has an annual enrollment of almost 17,000, giving it the enrollment numbers to field some deep sports teams. The Rams are an NCAA Division I team playing in the Atlantic 10 conference. Rhode Island's basketball team can be found playing at the Ryan Center in Kingston, R.I. for home games. In recent years, the team has given strong conference performances, making the Atlantic 10 finals in 2018 and winning the tournament in 2017, which was for the second time in its history with the conference. Several Rams players have gone on to professional careers, perhaps most famously Lamar Odom, who was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1999.
