RSM Classic TicketsRecently celebrating a decade of memories, the RSM Classic is a PGA Tour event occurring annually in the southeast region of Georgia. The tournament was first established by professional golfer Davis Love III, who, as head of the Davis Love Foundation, partnered with the PGA Tour in 2010 to host the event. Benefiting several charities in the local community, the RSM Classic is not only an entertaining golf tournament but also a valuable charitable endeavor. Historically taking place on the third weekend of November, the tournament has established itself as an essential stop on the fall portion of the PGA Tour. The home of the RSM Classic is Sea Island Golf Club, which is located on the coast of Georgia just over an hour from Jacksonville, Fla., and features the recently renovated Plantation Course. Who has won the RSCM Classic in recent years? In the RSM Classic’s inaugural year in 2010, Heath Slocum memorably beat Bill Haas by just one stroke. The next year, Ben Crane was named winner after beating Webb Simpson in a playoff, followed by Tommy Gainey taking the trophy home in 2012. Chris Kirk, Robert Streb, Kevin Kisner, Mackenzie Hughes, Austin Cook, and Charles Howell III are also past RSM Classic champions. In 2019, Tyler Duncan surprised the golf world with his first PGA Tour win in over 150 career starts.
What is the significance of the RSM Classic on the PGA Tour? The November date of the RSM Classic makes it one of the last PGA events of the calendar year. The tournament counts toward next year’s standings, meaning that the 2019 tournament technically occurs on the 2020 PGA Tour. Longtime St. Simons Island resident and PGA golfer Zach Johnson notes that the November start date and Georgia climate are some notable characteristics of the RSM Classic. Golfers will want to head into the new year on a positive note, while the cooler weather is a welcome change from the warmer climates on the tour.
What is the history of the Sea Island Golf Club and RSM Classic? While the RSM Classic was established recently in 2010, the Sea Island Golf Club is almost a century old. It consists of two courses: the Seaside Course, designed in 1929 and the Plantation Course, Sea Island’s first nine-hole course, designed in 1928. They were renovated in the 1990s, while the Plantation Course was redesigned again by Davis Love III and his brother Mark Love in 2019. Both courses are used at the RSM Classic, which was originally known as the McGladrey Classic before the accounting firm changed its name in 2015. RSM currently holds a sponsorship deal through 2025.
What kinds of RSM Classic tickets are available for purchase? In addition to general admission tickets for both individual days and the entire weekend, the RSM Classic also hosts a concert. Tickets can be purchased separately. Cole Swindell performed on Saturday night of the tournament’s 2019 edition, and past performers include Martina McBride and Jake Owen. Additionally, first responders, active-duty military and veterans can request free RSM Classic tickets that include access to the Heroes Outpost, a hospitality venue with complimentary food and beverages and a great view of the tournament.
What charity work is done by the RSM Classic and Davis Love Foundation?Since the tournament’s inception in 2010, the RSM Classic has resulted in over $17 million donated to charities. Some of the organizations that benefit include the Special Olympics and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia.
