What was the Sacramento River Cats' record last season? The River Cats won the championship last year, but it was not an easy season for the team. The River Cats had a one-game winner-take-all matchup in Memphis on Sept. 17 against the Columbus Clippers, the International League champions. From that game, they earned their third Triple-A national championship, which was the most by any other team in the league. Since becoming the San Francisco Giants’ minor league affiliate in 2015, it was the River Cats first winning record. They ended the 2019 regular season with a total of 73-67.
Who are some notable players on the River Cats to keep an eye on?When you catch a River Cats game in person, you might see pitcher Caleb Baragar, originally from Michigan on the mound, or Jerry Blevins, born in Tennessee. In 2019, Baragar was named the National Championship MVP for his pitching against Columbus, when he allowed just two hits. River Cats catchers expected to have a long playing career include Rob Brantly, Tyler Heineman and Bryan Torres. Looking to the infield, fans should keep an eye on Zach Green and Cristhian Adames while outfielders Jacob Heyward or Joey Rickard have also displayed a high level of skill on the field. In 2019, the River Cats lost one of their major players, Mike Yastrzemski. He became a quick fan favorite for MLB’s Giants and was one of the River Cats first-half stars before moving on to join the major leagues.
What is the tailgating scene like at Sutter Health Park?Tailgating is permitted at Sutter Health Park when confined to your individual parking space within the parking lot.
