US Sampdoria Calcio: plenty of potential
Though Sampdoria finished mid-table in the 2017/18 Serie A season, everyone connected with the club felt a significant degree of frustration towards the team. By their own standards, the team made an excellent start to that season - even beating reigning champions Juventus in a thriller. It is times like those that make people flock to StubHub to buy or sell US Sampdoria Calcio tickets!
Optimism ahead of Serie A season
The first third of the 2017/18 Serie A season saw Sampdoria win eight of a possible thirteen games, with that sequence culminating in the win over Juventus in November of 2017. Far from being the springboard to success, that 3-2 victory was followed by a barren run of a single point over the next fifteen matches. Another revival would follow in the New Year, but a spring slump ruined any chance of a return to the Europa League action. Eager to avoid a repeat of the inconsistent runs that have blighted Sampdoria, several new faces were welcomed onto the team during the summer of 2018. The highlight is Duván Zapata, a striker from Napoli who was brought in for 15.3 million euros. He came with some ample experience from Napoli's Champions League and title race campaigns and, being just 27 at the time of his arrival, has ensured that Sampdoria has been consistently threatening up front. At times he has found himself partnered with Grégoire Defrel, who was part of AS Roma's famous run to the 2018 Champions League semi-finals. With Sampdoria now more fired up than ever, this is the best time to buy and sell US Sampdoria Calcio tickets!
The birth and life of US Sampdoria Calcio
In 1899, Ginnastica Sampierdarenese formed a football team and used the name of Andrea Doria, a Genoese admiral, as its first-ever official club name. An identity crisis started by a politically-influenced merger prior to World War II was not fully resolved until 1946. Associazione Liguria Calcio merged with Andrea Doria to create the club we know today, but it would be nearly four decades before the club's fans had cause to celebrate. 1979 saw the club bought out by oil magnate Paolo Mantovani. With this newfound wealth, a promotion to Serie A was inevitable, and it duly came in 1982. Two Coppa Italia wins characterised an illustrious 1980s but, for many, the highlight was two appearances in the European cup Winners' Cup final. While the club has not reached those heights since, US Sampdoria Calcio tickets have always sold well on StubHub, with the Europa League qualification always being the target ahead of a new Serie A season.
