February of 2016 was a huge moment for the franchise, as that was when coach Roy Sommer actually broke the AHL record for career wins. The game that did it was a matchup with the Ontario Reign, giving Sommer his 637th victory on the AHL level to solidify his status as one of the league's iconic coaches. Sommer actually began coaching for the franchise back in 1998 for the Kentucky Thoroughbreds and played in the NHL for a decade.
