Sarah Close Tickets
A singer and songwriter from the Isle of Wight, Sarah Close is a multi-instrumentalist and performer. Born in April 1995, Close began her musical career by posting cover versions of popular songs on her YouTube channel. This gained her plenty of attention among a young audience and the singer went on to gain more and more plaudits from mainstream music fans the more she posted. The musician is perhaps best known for her single “Call Me Out”, which was released in 2017. This song reached the number one spot in the UK Official Physical Singles Chart. Although Close is able to turn her hand to a number of differing musical genres, her output to date has mostly put her into the category of an indie-pop artist.
Sarah Close's career milestones
Close is a self-taught musician. She began to experiment with a guitar at a young age and took up playing the piano of her own volition. The artist's videos of her performing covers have been seen by millions of people and her social media channels gained tens of thousands of followers, even as an unsigned artist essentially operating from her bedroom. Close began using social media to build a career online in 2009. At this time, she was still a student at the Ryde School on the Isle of Wight.
In 2013, Close began to gain a wider degree of interest as she began to get bookings for some higher-profile gigs. For example, in the summer of that year, the songwriter gave a performance at the Ventnor Fringe Festival, an annual event held on the Isle of Wight. In 2013, Close also made her debut appearance at one of the country's larger festivals, when she took to the stage at Bestival.
When she was 18, Close won a place at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, an educational establishment in London. Here, the performer went on to study music and songwriting, gaining experience and mixing with other musicians. From 2015, Close began recordings that would ultimately end up on her debut EP, a work that was released in April of 2017.
Made available for digital download only, Caught Up was Close's first four-song release. Put out on the Kodiak Club label, it featured the aforementioned “Call Me Out”, as well as a track named “Perfect After All”, a song that had been co-written by Bruno Major. Two promotional videos were shot for tracks from the EP. As a result of its success, Close was signed by Parlophone Records in July of 2017.
