Seattle Sounders FC TicketsStrengthened by an enthusiastic fan base and an electric atmosphere, the Seattle Sounders football club has made a deep and lasting mark on the landscape of American soccer. The original Sounders club was founded in 1974 as a member of the North American Soccer League. After the league foundered, the club was revived again in 1994 by the United Soccer League, with which it won four championships. Seattle joined with Major League Soccer for the 2009 season as part of a massive wave of soccer expansion in the United States and quickly rose to prominence within the ranks of the MLS by competing in the playoffs every year. Seattle has won the MLS Cup twice, in 2016 and 2019. It has also won the US Open Cup — the oldest soccer tournament in the country — on four separate occasions: 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014. Fredy Montero and Clint Dempsey are the all-time leading regular season scorers for the club with 47 goals. Experience this rich heritage for yourself and catch the excitement in person. He became an assistant when the team joined MLS. The Sounders won their first MLS Cup less than five months after Schmetzer took the helm.

Before Seattle and Portland joined the MLS in 2009 and 2011 respectively, both cities were part of the North American Soccer League and the USL. Since then, they have played every single year in the MLS, including a notorious 2015 match dubbed "The Red Card Wedding" for the number of red cards given to both teams.
