Pathless Is the Way
Seven Lions first began releasing music in 2010 and gained recognition for an unofficial remix of the Florence And The Machine song "Cosmic Love." Being a fan of author Gene Wolfe, his stage name is taken from a character in one of the author's books. In 2011, Seven Lions entered a competition for remixing Above & Beyond songs where he created his own version of the track "You Got To Go." The remix became so popular that it sat at No. 2 on the Beatport Dubstep chart only below Skrillex's "Levels." Following the competition win, he embarked on his first tour in 2012. Seven Lions released his first EP, Polarize, in April 2012. In October of the same year, he released a follow-up EP entitled Days To Come, which appeared on both Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic and Heatseekers album charts. Mimi Page, Minnesota and Seven Lions released the collaborative single "Fevers" in 2013, which was the first time his music was played on the radio. He gained further recognition when his collaborative single "Strangers" with Myon and Shane appeared on the soundtrack for Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones. Seven Lions' third EP, Worlds Apart, is his best-selling release to date. The 2014 EP peaked at No. 76 on the Billboard 200 chart. Success was partially attributed to the single "Don't Leave," which featured vocals from singer Ellie Goulding. Throes of Winter is Seven Lions' second and only other release to appear on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at No. 143. While his 2016 EP, Creation, didn't enter the Billboard 200, it hit No. 1 on the electronic albums chart. 2017's Where I Won't Be Found was Seven Lions' last release before beginning his own label, Ophelia Records, in 2018. Since starting the label, Seven Lions has released two more EPs. 2018's Start Again was the label's first release, and 2019's Ophelia Volume 1 contains Seven Lions' notable single "First Time."
