About Skinny Puppy
While performing as a member of the band, Images in Vogue, cEvin Key started a new electronic-industrial rock side project that eventually became the world-renowned Skinny Puppy. What helped to set Skinny Puppy from side project to fame was when cEvin Key brought on Nivek Ogre on vocals. Over the years, there have been a number of changes to the band's lineup, but both cEvin Key and Nivek Ogre are the ones who have kept the band going through the decades.
It was during the 1980s that Skinny Puppy was offered a record deal and signed to release its EP, Remission. The band shortly thereafter released its full-length album, Bites. In 1985, after releasing its first full-length album, Skinny Puppy created quite the underground following with a unique set of fans that enjoyed the experimental side of its music. Skinny Puppy successfully brought a mix of genres, ambient, rock, new wave and electronic, to the stage, leading up to its most popular album release, Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse. The album was released in 1986 and included the hit song, "Dig It." This album has become one of the most influential ones for the next wave of industrial bands. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails has purportedly, at one point, noted Skinny Puppy as influential.
The release of Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse was only the beginning of a long line of releases to come.
