Sloss Music and Arts Festival TicketsThe Sloss Music and Arts Festival (sometimes nicknamed "Slossfest") is an annual live music celebration held in Birmingham, Alabama. The first event was held in 2015 at the Sloss Furnaces national historic landmark and included the likes of Modest Mouse, Cage the Elephant, Primus and the Muddy Magnolias. The festival has typically been held over two days with four stages available for all of the scheduled musical acts.
Getting "Slossed" in BirminghamIn 2015, Red Mountain Entertainment and Venue Management joined forces with AC Entertainment of Knoxville, Tenn. to create the Sloss Music and Arts Festival. Named after Civil War veteran Colonel James Withers Sloss, whose presence was instrumental in rebuilding the American south following the war, the festival was originally conceived as a way to draw exciting musical acts and art exhibits to the Birmingham area. The inaugural event featured cast iron pouring demonstrations, interactive art installations and graphic works from the American Poster Institute in addition to information booths for non-profit organizations and a number of merchandise and service vendors. A beer garden, featuring a special "Siren of Sloss" brew from the local Trim Tab Brewing Company, was another key feature of the two-day festival.
