SMU Mustangs Tickets
Established in 1976, the Mustang women’s basketball team was initially coached by Head Coach Suzanne Trautmann to a 10–9 record, making the TAIAW playoffs. The following year, Welton Brown assumed head coaching duties and led the team to a 12–13 season and the TAIAW playoffs. Brown continued as their coach until the 1990-91 season’s end and led the team to TAIAW playoffs in 1979–1982. In the 1982–83 school year, SMU transitioned into the Southwestern Conference (SWC) with no further playoff appearances during Brown’s tenure. Rhonda Rompola became head coach in the 1991–92 school year, leading the team to the WNIT finals and third-place finish in the SWC in 1993. She followed with NCAA playoff appearances in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000. In 2000, the team also nabbed the top spot in the WAC conference. In 2005, the team made it to the WNIT, and in 2008, they competed in the NCAA playoffs. SMU competed in the WNIT in 2009, 2010 and 2013.
