Soprano: one of the greatest French rappers
The French rapper Saïd Roumbaba, who goes by the stage name Soprano, is one of the most successful European hip hop artists. After rising to fame as part of a rap group called Psy 4 de la Rime, he focused on his solo career and since then has been consistently achieving chart success with his many albums. His incredible energy and stage presence result in phenomenal concerts, and you can see one for yourself by booking Soprano tickets on StubHub.
From rap collective to solo success
As mentioned, Soprano was originally most well known for being a member of Psy 4 de la Rime, a French rap group which also included Segnor Alonzo (known professionally as Alonzo). During their years together they were extremely successful, releasing several records including the number one album, "Les cités d'or". As a solo artist, though, he proved to be even more popular, consistently charting well in France, Switzerland and Belgium. Although you might broadly describe his music as French rap, it’s a little more complex, drawing inspiration from US hip hop as well as West African music, the latter of which is a nod to his immigrant background. With someone who tours as extensively as he does, you shouldn’t find it hard to buy Soprano tickets on StubHub. His 2019 Phoenix Tour, for example, featured nearly 70 dates. You can often find him playing shows across the world (predominantly in Europe) and at huge festivals, where he’s always guaranteed to light the stage up with one of his electrifying performances.
The unbelievable chart success of Soprano
Unlike many musicians, Soprano didn’t have to slowly build up a fan base. He was a huge hit right from the release of his very first album, "Puiqu’il Faut Vivre" (2007), which went straight into the Billboard European Top 100 chart and peaked at No. 2 on the French album chart. If that wasn’t impressive enough, he really outdid himself with his next release, "La Colombe" in 2010. It was the first part of an ambitious double concept album, the second half being 2011’s "Le Corbeau". They reached No. 1 and 3 on the French album chart respectively. All in all, he’s had more than five albums in the Top 10 – a testament to his enduring popularity and talent. His incredible vocal range and clever lyrics have also made him much sought-after by other artists: as a guest vocalist, he’s worked with musicians such as Demon One, Black M and Amel Bent.
