Stomp Wilkes-Barre Tickets
Stomp, the show of percussion and dance has taken the theatrical world by storm. Since it opened in 1991 in London, the show has been a sensation. Using everyday objects, from brooms to hubcaps to basketballs, the ensemble bangs out exciting rhythms that fill the auditorium with sounds of percussive beats and dancing feet. It’s an “explosive, inventive, witty and utterly unique” experience great for all ages.
Whether you have or have never seen the show before, you’re in for some fantastic surprises as sections of the show have been altered and added. It’s a fresh and updated Stomp that has to be seen and heard.
The show has toured and performed around the world: at the Acropolis in Athens, for more than 20 years now at the Orpheum Theatre in New York City, in Las Vegas with a larger ensemble and at a theater specifically built for that production. Stomp has performed at the Academy Awards, in television specials and even with the Muppets on Sesame Street!
The F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts
The Kirby Center is a multi-use performing arts center in the heart of downtown Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It is a mecca for local and national touring companies, shows and bands in and coming to the Wyoming Valley. Opened in 1938 as the jewel in the crown of the expansive area Comerford theater chain, the appropriately named Comerford Movie Theater was one of the largest and grandest of movie palaces in Northeast Pennsylvania. In 1949, the Penn Paramount Company took possession and renamed it the Paramount Theater. But, by the 1980s, the once-opulent movie theater was closed and facing destruction.
Residents and business leaders came together to save it, got the venerable building placed on the National Register of Historic Places and then raised money for a complete renovation. It reopened in 1986 under its current name and has been going strong ever since.
The theater is just a few minutes from I-81. Parking is easy in downtown. There are several parking garages and lots located from right next door to the Kirby Center to just a few blocks away. There is also street parking.
