Stubbs BarBQ gets its name from the legendary Christopher B. Stubbfield, otherwise known as Stubb. In 1968, after a life of picking cotton and serving as a staff sergeant in the Korean War, Stubb opened up his first restaurant, which was located in Lubbock, Texas, just across from the county fairgrounds. Along with the tasty barbecue, Stubb used to play blues music from his jukebox. As Stubbs BarBQ grew, it became one of the biggest hubs for live music, and some of the greatest country stars, including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Muddy Waters, would "play for their supper" at the restaurant.
