Tame Impala is the brain child of Kevin Parker. Kevin Parker, an Australian native, came up with the idea for the musical project in 2007 and set off to work, writing, performing, recording and producing the music for Tame Impala's first album completely on his own. Since then, Parker has wowed the world with his multitalented musical stylings. It should come as no surprise that Parker was inspired by supergroups such as the Beatles and the Beach Boys even though he developed his unique musical approach with a one-man focus.
A One-Man Band
Tame Impala was a long time coming. Parker always had a love for music but a fear of getting involved in the music industry. Heeding a warning from his father against making a career out of music lest it lose its magic, Parker worked a series of day jobs before finally giving in to the music in his mind. In 2008, after Parker began putting together songs for what would become Tame Impala's debut album, he went off and assembled a band who would help him play his songs live since he couldn't possibly do it all outside of the studio. Before long, the band took the world by storm and hasn't stopped since. While the studio versions of the band's music remain played exclusively by Parker, the live lineup consists of Jay Watson, Dominic Simper, Julien Barbagallo and Cam Avery. You can expect to catch them touring through August and performing at Lollapalooza.
