TCU Horned Frogs Baseball TicketsThe early years of baseball for Texas Christian University’s Horned Frogs weren't anything to write home about. In fact, the TCU Horned Frogs only made two NCAA Tournament appearances in the first 57 seasons after the tournament was launched in 1947. That all changed at the onset of the 2004 season when Jim Schlossnagle took over as head coach. The end of his inaugural season saw TCU earn a spot in the postseason, and they have been a fixture there ever since. In fact, with the exception of one year, the Horned Frogs have made a successful run into the postseason every season since. Not only have they made postseason appearances, but the Horned Frogs have made it to the College World Series the last four seasons. While they are still in pursuit of their first College World Series Championship, the Horned Frogs are developing a reputation as one of the most revered baseball programs in the nation. Where does the TCU Horned Frogs baseball team play?TCU’s home arena is the Charlie and Marie Lupton Baseball Stadium at Williams-Reilly Field, which opened on the Fort Worth, Texas, campus in 2003. The first game at Lupton Stadium was played on Feb. 2 that season against a long-term rival, the UT-Arlington Mavericks. Charlie Lupton was the founder of the Brown-Lupton Foundation and donated $2 million to the TCU baseball program to construct a new baseball stadium. The stadium is built to hold up to 4500 fans and offers a roof over a portion of the seats. The in-game experience at Lupton Stadium is fun for all ages as there are frequent contests between innings including such fun activities as Baseball Bingo. TCU also acknowledges some of the great traditions of Major League Baseball teams by playing "Sweet Caroline" at the top of the sixth inning and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th-inning stretch.
Do the TCU Horned Frogs have any rivalries in baseball?Along with the Mavericks, TCU has developed a new rivalry with the Texas A&M Aggies. This rivalry was born through some postseason games that saw the Horned Frogs eliminate the Aggies multiple times on their home field. TCU also has a healthy rivalry that involves both Big 12 Conference play and a fight for Texas supremacy with the Baylor Bears. The battles with Baylor date all the way back to 1904 and are still a key date on the schedule for both squads.
