Texas Tech Red Raiders Baseball TicketsTexas Tech's baseball team launched in the spring of 1926. While the names that made up that first roster aren't names many would recognize today, that first Texas Tech team, known as the Matadors, put up an impressive record of 10-2-1. By 1929, the baseball program was shut down and stayed that way until the spring of 1954. Texas Tech remained a relative non-factor until the 1987 season. Larry Hays brought his track record of NAIA success to Lubbock and began to change the culture of the Red Raiders. By the time the 1990s rolled around, Texas Tech had entered the national rankings and was winning conference tournament games in the old Southwest Conference. Today, Texas Tech puts a consistently competitive team on the field. They have made it to Omaha for the College World Series four times since 2014.
