The Band history
Take That defined British pop in the '90s. Characterised by their catchy dance anthems, pop ballads and good looks, the group achieved more No. 1 hits in the U.K. than any other act in the '90s apart from the Spice Girls. Take That, which formed in 1990, launched the career of pop legend Robbie Williams and currently consists of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen. The original line-up also featured Jason Orange, who has since departed.
Take That had multiple hits around the world, producing twelve No. 1 hits and seven No. 1 albums in the UK alone. After a documentary was made about the group in 2005, they reunited for a tour and a greatest hits album. Some of the band's greatest hits include "Rule the World," "Back for Good," "Never Forget," "Greatest Day," "Million Love Songs" and "The Flood."
There is no shortage of drama, pop melodies and infectious chorus lines in this band's back catalogue. Female fans adored them, multiple boy bands are modelled after them and now, their story is retold on the stage. Fans of Take That are sure to be entertained and captivated by the show.

The Band auditions
In early 2017, Let It Shine premiered on BBC 1. The reality show set out to find the five cast members who would play the band in the musical. The show was hosted by Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc and featured Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp as regular judges. Amber Riley, Ricki Lake and Lulu -- who featured on Take That's hit "Relight My Fire" -- were all guest judges during the show's primetime run. Contestants had to perform hit songs in front of a live studio audience every week. Eventually, Five to Five won the contest and were cast as the band.
