The Basement East - A Haven for Music Lovers in East Nashville
The Basement East is the sister venue to the well-known Nashville concert venue, The Basement, located near Vanderbilt University. This gritty locale in the up-and-coming Nashville East neighborhood puts on two shows a night of both local and touring artists. The much-larger east venue boasts a capacity of 400, and plays a wide variety of different genres.
The Basement East History
The Basement East just opened in 2015, and mirrors the longer running spot across the river in most ways -- solid sound quality, fully stocked bar and a packed calendar of killer new artists. It has fast become known as a great place to hit for some live music, cheap drinks and dancing.
The Basement East Events
Serving up live music, seven days a week, the Basement East is the ideal venue to catch a gig, no matter what your taste in music. From the country music that Nashville is known for, to indie, pop and rock, the Basement East has a nonstop deluge of great music hitting the stage. And with two shows a night, on any given day of the week you're sure to find something that appeals. The Beast Pub next door also hosts game nights, trivia and the occasional crawfish boil.
The Basement East Seating Layout
The Basement East is a strictly standing-room-only venue. While you might be able to track down a few seats, there is no guaranteed seating whatsoever, so expect to be on your feet for most of the time. The focus at this venue is on the stage, and the music quality -- both The Basement and the Basement East are known for their fantastic acoustics, so if you're a stickler for such things, you won't be disappointed here. Because of the lack of seating, the crowd here tends to be a bit younger and rowdier. Expect to dance the night away in The Basement East!
Nashville East, Tennessee
Nashville East has been compared to the Lower East Side in New York City -- a haven for musicians and artists of all kinds. This newly hip neighborhood is growing fast, and has become one of the most desirable new areas to live for young people in Nashville. Because of the revitalization that has been occurring over the past decade, the neighborhood is chock full of bars, restaurants and cafes. There is quite the burgeoning craft beer and food scene; in fact, you can even take a walking food tour of the area. Nashville East is also the location of Nissan Stadium, which is home to the Tennessee Titans and hosts some of the bigger name concerts. All around, it's a fantastically artistic neighborhood, with a lot of activity outside of the normal hubbub you can find across the river.
The Basement East was decorated in part by donations from locals because the owner wanted the decor to reflect the history of the neighborhood.
