The Book of Mormon Eugene tickets
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone began developments for The Book of Mormon in 2003, shortly after seeing the Broadway musical Avenue Q at the John Golden Theatre. Parker and Stone enjoyed the performance, and felt that it shared elements with their movie Team America: World Police, which featured marionettes instead of actors.
Over the next several years, Parker and Stone worked closely with Robert Lopez, who wrote the music for Avenue Q and, later, the Disney film Frozen. The trio developed the musical for several years before premiering it in 2011 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre.
The Book of Mormon story line
Buying The Book of Mormon tickets gives you an opportunity to watch an entertaining musical that challenges beliefs in a humorous way. Parker and Stone, who are known for their irreverent sense of humor, created a plot that involves two Mormon missionaries traveling to Uganda to convert villagers. Elder Price, who takes his religion and duty seriously, immediately has confrontations with a gang led by the local warlord.
Elder Price quickly loses confidence in his abilities to convert the villagers to Mormonism. His sidekick, Elder Cunningham, however, continues to reassure him even as they fail repeatedly.
Following a traumatic event, Elder Price leaves Uganda for Orlando, where he had originally hoped his mission trip would take him. Elder Cunningham stays in Africa and continues working with the villagers. During his conversion attempts, Elder Cunningham begins mixing fantasy and science-fiction stories into parables from the Book of Mormon. His tales include references to Yoda and Darth Vader, as well as Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism.
Eventually, guilt persuades Elder Price to return to Uganda. He's shocked to see that the villagers have embraced Elder Cunningham's twisted version of Mormonism, but accepts that Cunningham's efforts have been more successful than those of missionaries before them.
Price and Cunningham discover that the villagers never took the stories as literal fact. The people, however, still draw strength from them. When the warlord returns to steal their things, Price rallies the villagers to fight against the invaders so they can start building a paradise on Earth.
