The Cake and Bake Show is an exhibition that draws the most skilled bakers from across the UK to show off all they have to offer. You can expect to see a huge exhibition of intricately decorated, elaborate cakes and other pastries. The exhibition also offers classes for the curious, as well as book signings and other opportunities to engage with some of the UK's most notable celebrity bakers.
The Cake and Bake Show tours throughout the UK, and you can get your The Cake and Bake Show tickets for shows at Excel in London, RHC in Edinburgh and EventCity in Manchester.
Though the connection isn't formal, The Cake and Bake Show is closely linked with the Great British Bake-Off, one of the most notable baking competitions in the UK. This show attracts some three million viewers in the UK alone, and airs internationally. It focuses on skilled chefs from all over Britain making progressively more difficult breads and pastries. Cookbook author Mary Berry and celebrity baker Paul Hollywood judge the competition, which stretches out for ten weeks of white-knuckle, high-stakes competition. Many contestants from the Great British Bake-Off have gone on to be celebrities who make appearances at The Cake and Bake Show, and both media events share an emphasis on highly technical, perfectly executed baking that pleases the eye as much as it does the palate.
Many ordinary people with exceptional skills come to The Cake and Bake Show to show off what they can do, but the event also draws several notable celebrities. Fans will remember Jo Wheatley, for instance, from her victory on The Great British Bake-Off in 2012. Food critic and MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace will be at the event as well, and so will Rosemary Shrager, who teaches haute cuisine cooking skills on Ladette to Lady, and who also serves as a judge on Soapstar Superchef.
Organizer Luke Collings put together the original The Cake and Bake Show in London in 2012, and he still has a pivotal role in directing and organizing the show. For over a decade, Collings has worked in event organizing, putting together exhibitions and other massive, public ticketed events. He says he was inspired by the artistry and skill displayed each season on The Great British Bake-Off, and wanted to put together an event that fans and pastry lovers could attend to experience the excitement firsthand.
ProducersThe Cake and Bake Show is put on by Media 10 Limited, a company that focuses on planning and putting on events, as well as traditional publishing and new media ventures. Baking fans may be familiar with Media 10 TV event The Great British Bake-Off. By far the most notable event Media 10 put on has been the Coronation Festival at the gardens of Buckingham Palace to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Queen's coronation."
