In the early 1960s, Mel Thompson’s modern basketball era Bulldogs brought The Citadel some success by posting a 17-8 record and breaking West Virginia’s home field winning streak of 44 games. Over the past 20 years, The Citadel has won eight of the 21 games with VMI, losing in the last match-up 78-81.
