Founded in 2006 in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, The Front Bottoms is a folk-punk band that is known for its raucous concerts that encourage full fan participation. Once The Front Bottoms got its lineup put together, it began to play in local venues in the New Jersey area, which led to tours around the US. It has released six studio albums, eight EPS, and a handmade cassette tape it called Calm Down and Breath that included five songs such as "Father," "Swimming Pool," and "Breath"; there were only 30 of these tapes ever created. The Front Bottoms have performed at several major festivals such as Austin City Limits, Coachella, Shaky Knees, and Panorama. The Front Bottoms love fan input, taking requests at concerts and even creating EPs based off its most requested songs; there is no doubt it is devoted to its fans, and it receives that same devotion back.
The Front Bottoms: Going With The Flow
If you were to sit down with The Front Bottoms and ask the band members where they were or where they were going with their music in the future, they would say they did not know. One of the reasons that the music of The Front Bottoms is so endearing is that it simply goes with the flow, and the band writes about real-life experiences and keeps its sound raw. Many of its songs refer to events in the lives of the members including baptisms and regretful summers that are easy for each of us to relate to. Even though it has been signed to Fueled by Ramen, the label that has brought us major bands such as Panic! At the Disco and Paramore, the band wants to retain its garage band sound. While a push to mainstream may be inevitable, The Front Bottoms is determined to go with the flow and keep making the music the way it loves to make it.
