The Last Waltz Celebration Tickets
The Last Waltz Celebration TicketsThe Last Waltz Celebration is a show performed by The Last Waltz Ensemble, a Bob Dylan and The Band tribute band. The project started as a one-time event by the Georgia Americana group known as Houndog in celebration of the music from the Martin Scorsese film called The Last Waltz. The film was a documentary that captured The Band's last concert, which was held on Thanksgiving in 1976 at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, Calif. The Band invited Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Neil Young and Ronnie Hawkins, among others, to perform with it onstage. The date for the inaugural Last Waltz Celebration, Thanksgiving weekend of 2004, was chosen in honor of this legendary performance.
And the Waltz Goes OnThe first incarnation of The Last Waltz Celebration featured Houndog members Mark Kramer on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, Kris Gloer on lead guitar and vocals, Eric Reed on bass and vocals and Shawn Stickney on drums. Guest artists include former lead guitarist for The Gregg Allman Band and founding member of the band, Cowboy Tommy Talton, now-deceased blues player Sean Costello and Blueground Undergrass' Reverend Jeff Mosier. The group played to a sold-out house. A recording of The Last Waltz Celebration was made in Charlotte, N.C., called Live at The Visulite Theater and released in January of 2008. It includes songs like "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," "It Makes No Difference," "You Ain't Going Nowhere," "Time to Kill," "Like a Rolling Stone" and "King Harvest."
