The musical's popularity encouraged Disney Theatrical to produce versions in several cities and countries. The Little Mermaid storyline
Although the Little Mermaid tour deviates from the movie's plot, it still maintains the storyline's foundations. The musical has two acts. During Act I, Prince Eric and his adviser, Grimsby, discuss the mythical merfolk who live in the surrounding seas. Below the water, the kingdom of merfolk holds a concert that attracts the Prince's attention. Meanwhile, Princess Ariel's obsession with humans causes her to forget her solo in the concert. When she returns home, her father, King Triton, commands Sebastian the crab to watch over his daughter and prevent her from interacting with the human world.
Act I ends with Ariel visiting Ursula, a sea witch who wants revenge against King Triton, her brother. Ursula grants Ariel three days to live as a human. During that time, she can win the right to remain human by receiving a kiss from Prince Eric.
Much of Act II focuses on the time that Ariel and Prince Eric spend together on land. Despite the attempts of Ariel's undersea friends to create a romantic atmosphere, Eric doesn't give Ariel her kiss.
Grimsby arranges a singing contest on Ariel's last day as a human. The contest brings together princesses from around the world. Prince Eric will marry the woman with the most beautiful voice. Prince Eric chooses Ariel as his bride, but Ursula disrupts their embrace. As the sun sets, Ursula tells Ariel that she has lost the bet. The young princess now belongs to the witch. During a gruesome battle, Ursula steals Ariel's voice, banishes King Triton and takes the title of queen.
Ariel saves the day by destroying a shell that gives Ursula her power. Act II closes with peace declared between the humans and merfolk. Ariel and Prince Eric marry with the blessing of King Triton.
