The Little Mermaid Tampa Tickets
The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid is the exuberant live stage production of Disney’s successful animated musical of the same name. Ariel, Flounder and Scuttle surface on the shores of Tampa Bay to share their fishy tale featuring beloved songs such as “Under the Sea,” “Part of Your World” and “Kiss the Girl.”
The brilliant creative team comprised of composer Alan Menken, lyricists Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and librettist Doug Wright adapted Hans Christian Andersen’s tale into an award-winning movie musical in 1989. The film won 1990 Oscars for Best Original Song (“Under the Sea”) and Best Original Score.
The stage version of The Little Mermaid opened on Broadway on January 10, 2008, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to rave reviews. The show received two Tony nominations, three Drama Desk Award nominations and one Grammy Award nomination. The musical has been touring the U.S. since then, charming audiences of every age.
Much to the consternation of her father, King Triton, teenage mermaid Ariel longs to venture outside her undersea home to experience two-legged life on dry land among the humans. Inching closer for a better look at a passing ship, she spots a handsome prince named Eric.
When the prince falls overboard, Ariel tests fate by rescuing him. The cost of true love, however, lies in the hands of Ursula, an evil sea witch. With the help of fishy friend Flounder, plucky seagull Scuttle and hopeless romantic Sebastian the Crab, Ariel eventually finds her sea legs—and her voice.
The Straz Center in downtown Tampa is the largest performing arts center in the Southeast. The beautiful 2,610-seat Morsani Hall hosts The Little Mermaid onstage. The Straz Center offers valet parking as well as a lot across the street and a parking garage, all for a fee.

The Little Mermaid Trivia
In the stage version of The Little Mermaid, King Triton and Ursula are brother and sister, with control over equal parts of the ocean.
Film producers almost cut the song “Part of Your World” from the movie when it tested poorly with a group of children. It passed its second test screen with flying colors.
