The Lovely Eggs Tickets
Playing a variety of lo-fi rock, punk and psychedelia, The Lovely Eggs is a two-piece rock band from Lancaster in the northwest of England. The duo is made up of a married couple, David Blackwell and Holly Ross. Ross had already achieved a degree of notoriety on the UK music scene for her work as the guitarist and lead singer in the group Angelica. Operating as a duo since 2006, The Lovely Eggs take a unique approach to garage rock, embracing loose ends and lo-fi production techniques.
The Lovely Eggs' career milestones
When the band first got together, The Lovely Eggs were in New York City, the place where they performed their first ever gig. After returning to their home country, Ross and Blackwell began playing at venues all over the UK, accumulating a following due to their energetic style and stage presence. Their songwriting and lo-fi approach to audio production also got them noticed in the media. BBC 6 Music DJs, such as Steve Lamacq, gave the band considerable attention and airplay.
In 2008, the members of The Lovely Eggs were invited by Riley to a record a session for the BBC. This was repeated later in the year for another BBC DJ. With an increasing following being attracted to their style, The Lovely Eggs went on to put out their debut EP later in the year. The thoughtfully titled Have You Ever Heard The Lovely Eggs? was released in October on Cherryade Records. The five-track work included tracks such as “Have You Ever Heard a Digital Accordion?” and “I Want to Fall Off My Bike Today” showcasing the band’s inimitable approach to lyric writing. The former was the lead track and it subsequently went on to be named as the single of the week on XFM.
By June 2009, The Lovely Eggs had completed the recording of their debut album, a work that was put out for the North American market by HHBTM Records, an independent label that is based in Georgia. A tour of the UK and the US followed to promote the album. Later in the year, the band put out a limited edition CD to coincide with Halloween. The following year, the band was invited to play live at the prestigious South by Southwest music festival, where a video recording of their performance was made.
Following a break during Ross’ pregnancy in 2015, the band returned with This Is Our Nowhere, a new album. “Goofin Around in Lancashire” was put out as a single. The following year, the duo put out a 7-inch vinyl single on their own label and set about recording “I Shouldn’t Have Said That” in 2017 for a single release.
