Some bold musical moves by The Night Cafe
The Night Cafe's charming lyrics, glowing vocal melodies, bold guitar hooks, shaking bass riffs and rich, metronomic drumming bode well for their future. After their debut summer anthems were praised in the music press as "peppier than a fizzed-up Fanta" they subsequently showed a slightly darker side. Mixed Signals sure had a catchy tune but told a sad and brooding tale of a misguided youth going off the rails. For a group of Liverpool lads who met at school, practised in a garage, and uploaded songs for their mates to listen to on the internet, it's a sign of growing maturity. Sean Martin, Josh Higgins, Arran O'Connell and Carl Dillon are the heirs to the fine musical traditions coming out of Merseyside, from The Beatles to The Coral. This new foursome is bursting with creativity. They have their own ideas of where the music will take them. Follow their journey on StubHub, where you can purchase and offload The Night Cafe tickets.
Legion of young fans for The Night Cafe
While still teenagers, The Night Cafe played alongside their boyhood heroes The Wombats. They also toured with Blaenavon and supported Will Joseph Cook. Live performances at Reading and Leeds summer festivals, plus a rollicking show on the BBC Introducing Stage at T in the Park merely whetted the appetite, and the boys consistently sold out venues on their UK tour, accompanied by Sundara Karma and The Hunna. The Night Cafe have inevitably been likened to fellow Scousers Circa Waves, but many already see in them a modern Fleetwood Mac. They already have a legion of young fans, keen to soak up the band's buzzing party vibes and crisp indie sound. Such a youthful band was bound to encounter some setbacks along the way, but Josh Higgins expressed their confidence in a magazine interview: "We're comfortable with ourselves because we're sounding and doing what we want to be doing."
