The Orpheum History
Renowned for its hipster vibe, the Orpheum in Tampa has staged thousands of live music concerts and special events over the past 15 years. After more than a decade in business, this highly frequented nightspot temporarily closed to the public on June 11, 2011, with a concert by indie rock band Grouplove and relocated from its original home on North Avenida Republica de Cuba to a larger, more prestigious venue on East 7th Avenue. The venue re-opened a week later with a Retro Red Square Recall dance party.
The Orpheum Events
Live shows at the Orpheum in Tampa range from indie and rock to hardcore punk and death metal. Many emerging and established acts have played here, including heavy metal band Born of Osiris, rapper Joe Budden, hard rock band Lordi, hardcore punk band Judge and hip-hop artists Rich The Kid and Isaiah Rashad. The venue has also hosted an array of special events, including the Landmark Events Tampa Showcase Festival, SHINE Wrestling showcases, and dance nights hosted by DJs such as Funk Jesus, Gregg Schmidt and Tom Gold.
