The Paper Kites tour dates
Sam Bentley and Christina Lacy laid the foundation of what would become The Paper Kites with some of their first musical collaborations in high school. The Australian teens wrote their own songs and, in 2010, added the rest of the band's lineup. Since the release of their debut single, "Bloom," The Paper Kites have made stops at the Reeperbahn Festival, the Wayhome Music & Arts Festival and the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
The Paper Kites background
The Paper Kites began to build a consistent following with their first EP, 2011's Woodland. Music executives soon took notice, and Wonderlick Entertainment signed the band in 2011. The band launched its first headlining tour in their native Australia, simultaneously working on its second EP, Young North.
Fans were finally treated to the band's debut full-length album, States, in early 2013. The release brought in so much attention that The Paper Kites were touring North America with City and Colour before the end of the year. Actress Laura Brent appeared in the music video for the first single ("Electric Indigo") off the group's second album, 2015's twelvefour.
The Paper Kites biggest hits
While it didn't attract immediate commercial success, "Bloom" proved to be a defining single for The Paper Kites when it was released in 2010. The song spread online and eventually landed the band its first opening gig for Passenger and Hungry Kids of Hungary.
"Featherstone," from the Woodland EP, was featured on the TV show Grey's Anatomy.
