Having premiered in 2012, The Play That Goes Wrong has since been keeping people entertained at various national and international venues. In Dallas, it's set to take the stage at Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. The play was first performed at London's Old Red Lion Theatre in 2012. It moved to Trafalgar Studios the subsequent year, and in 2014, it began its first UK tour. In September of 2014, it took up residence at the Duchess Theatre in the West End. In the US, the Broadway production began its run at the Lyceum Theatre in 2017. It featured the original London cast, and J.J. Abrams, known for his work on films and in television, made his debut as theatrical producer. The touring production of The Play That Goes Wrong embarked in 2018. Laughing All the Way

The performance is actually a play within a play. The cast attempts to put on a performance of The Murder at Haversham Manor, which is a murder mystery set in the 1920s, but things go very wrong along the way. Even before the play starts, audience members are given a glimpse into some of the chaos with stagehands trying to fix a broken mantlepiece and attempting to catch a dog. Other scripted problems include props falling down, doors getting stuck, actors fumbling their lines and cast members breaking character.
