See The Posies perform live in concert
Led by musical polymaths and original founding band members Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow, The Posies have been compared to evergreen British band of the 1960s, The Hollies, thanks to their singing style and song writing. Tour stops in the UK have included London, Leeds, Glasgow and Manchester, as well as theatres throughout North America and Europe. Alongside Auer and Stringfellow, who also perform as solo artists, Dave Fox (guitar) and Mike Musburger (drums) complete the quartet. The band first saw the light of day in the late 1980s on the west coast of the USA with the release of their first studio album, Failure. Early critics likened them to The Beatles, but they have refined their repertoire over the years and remain innovative advocates of independent alternative rock. Influences include acts like Cheap Trick and Chris Bell. Following a split at the end of the 1990s, The Posies were reunited some seven years later. Their on-off career continues to intrigue, and The Posies tickets are in demand.
Awesome eight musical albums from The Posies
The Posies have produced a total of eight studio albums over a period of thirty years. With Stringfellow based in France and Auer hunkered down in Seattle, they now straddle the Atlantic. Their best-known crowd-pleasing hits remain the 1990s track Golden Blunders, from Dear 23, along with Dream All Day, Solar Sister and Flavor of the Month from Frosting on the Beater. For their later albums, including Blood/Candy and Solid States, they were joined by a variety of guest artists. These include the revered Hugh Cornwell, once of the pioneering British punk band The Stranglers, plus Kay Hanley from Letters to Cleo and Lisa Lobsinger of Broken Social Scene. Former band members include Rick Roberts, Joe Skyward, Brian Young, Darius Minwalla and Matt Harris.
