Reflecting on The Reflections
Calling The Reflections a cover band is a lot like calling Santana a house band. They perform the music of greats like 10cc, The Moody Blues, The Hollies, The Manfreds, War of the Worlds, and Sir Cliff Richard, but they do it with the inimitable style of the originals. Their success lies in the fact that they were members of the original bands and production.
A packed schedule has them touring in diverse locations around the UK. They perform in High Wycombe at the Wycombe Swan Theatre. That is quickly followed by a stop in Chesham at The Elgiva Theatre. From there, after a short break, they head to Wavendon at The Stables. They also perform at the Chelmsford Civic Theatre, followed by a charity event performance in Penrith.
Off the road, the band members have been incredibly active in the studio. Members have written songs performed by Celine Dion, Sarah Brightman, Olivia Newton John, Seiko Matsuda, Janet Jackson, and Al Jarreau, just to name a few. Their playing can be heard on albums produced by Kylie Minogue, Westlife, Cher, Mariah Carey, Jeff Wayne, Tina Turner, Sting, and Faith Hill.
This group of five career talents includes the incredible vocals of Mick Wilson, and the musical arrangements of hit songwriter Paul Bliss, along with his talents on the keyboard and guitar. Gordy Marshall's polished and studio-ready performance on the drums, keyboard, and percussion, and the stage presence of experienced technician Marcus Cliffe on bass, guitar, and vocals adds to the total performance. The icing on the cake is the addition of Huw Davies, a guitarist whose performances range across genres like rock, theatre, and classical.
As a group, The Reflections are fairly new, but the band members have each had plenty of breakout moments throughout their long and established careers. Mick Wilson started with a bang in a group called Flame, but his most recent breakthrough was with his solo career in 2011, when he released his album, So the Story Goes. Paul Bliss recorded two albums with The Bliss Band in 1978 and '79. Gordy Marshall had his career take off when he auditioned and landed a spot with The Moody Blues. Marcus Cliffe took the stage by storm with Tin Tin Out and The Manfreds. Huw Davies performed on four tours with the War of the Worlds and regularly takes the stage with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Writing a complete hit list for these music greats would take pages, so here are just a few of the highlights. Mick Wilson performed with Lionel Ritchie, Kylie Minogue, Sir Cliff Richard, The Hollies, 10cc, Donny Osmond, Cher, and many others. Paul Bliss has songwriting credits for hits like "Heart Attack" performed by Olivia Newton-John and "(If There Was) Any Other Way," performed by Celine Dion on her English debut album. He also wrote some of the hits they now perform on stage for The Hollies and Justin Hayward. Gordy Marshall performed on studio recordings and stage performances of War of the Worlds, and performed with music greats like Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, and Emma Bunton as a member of Tin Tin Out. Marcus Cliffe has shared a stage as a member of Tin Tin Out and The Manfreds, but he is also the founding member of Miracle Mile. Huw Davies performed with Cliff Richards, Alexandra Burke, Annie Lennox, and on War of the Worlds.
With more than a century of combined experience, The Reflections make every show polished perfection. The band breathes new life into classic rock melodies, offering more than a nod to the originals. They perform these songs as they were meant to be heard. The Reflections tickets are sure to be a hit with any classic rock fan.
