The Revolution Tickets
The Revolution TicketsThe group Revolution was founded by Prince as the band to accompany the beginning of his rise to greatness. After many auditions and changes, the original founding members of the band ended up being Lisa Coleman, Wendy Melvoin, Bobby Z., Brown Mark and Dr. Matt Fink. The group had an undeniable dynamic that would perfectly support the sound, image and direction of Prince at that time in his career. They would provide the instrumental support for the iconic albums of Purple Rain, Around the World in A Day and Parade. All members of the group Revolution were from the Minneapolis areas and dedicated 100 percent of their efforts to the vision of Prince. Today, they honor his vision and memory by recreating his magic on a reunion Revolution tour of their own.
The Revolution With and Without PrinceDespite the band only officially performing with Prince from 1984 to 1986, their actual origins date back to 1979. They were the supporting band with minor recognition on the albums from Prince to 1999. It was not until Purple Rain that they would receive the proper recognition they deserved. Revolution had a number of hit songs during its relatively short-lived collaboration. Some of such hit songs included "Let's Go Crazy," "Purple Rain," "I Would Die 4 U," "Raspberry Beret," "Kiss" and "Girls and Boys." The band and Prince parted ways in 1986 with the exception of Fink who stayed on with Prince. Many of the members of the band went on to pursue solo music careers. The ladies in the group, Wendy and Lisa, went on to win an Emmy Award for the music creations on the television show Nurse Jackie. The two would also perform with Prince now and again over the years. And the group would reunite off and on with various members of the group during the 2000s. Fink, at this time, was leading a Prince tribute band. The reunion of the Revolution did not officially occur until after Prince passed in 2016. The group decided to get back together to pay tribute to his remarkable and legendary life by performing songs from the albums Dirty Mind to Parade, all albums to which they contributed personally. It started with a three-performance tour in 2016 and continually expand the Revolution tour dates more and more with each passing year. Over the years, the Revolution received two Grammy awards alongside Prince, and the band alone was entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011. While Purple Rain never received any awards during the life of Prince, after his passing, all of their work received the proper recognition with an American Music Award in 2016.
