Join them for the comeback of all comebacks with tickets for The Skids now available to buy or sell on StubHub.
The forerunners of the post-punk movement
The history of The Skids might read like that of almost any band: formed in Dunfermline in 1977, they produced several albums, went through a couple of changes of line up, supported a few big-name bands, like The Clash, and eventually split in 1982, with the members going on to form other bands including The Armoury Project and Big Country. Yet it didn't end there. More than thirty years after its demise, the band reunited in 2017 for a highly successful 40th anniversary tour before releasing a new album, 'Burning Cities', full of exciting new material that proved The Skids certainly haven't lost their creative spark. Despite the sad death of guitarist Stuart Adamson - who was considered a legend among guitarists and one of the most important elements of the band, thanks to his unique way of playing the instrument - The Skids' history continues with most of the original members and the same electrifying energy that they have always brought to performances. One of the original forerunners of the second wave of punk, getting tickets to The Skids will give you the chance to see them developing the genre even further for the 21st century world.
Enjoy The Skids' greatest hits and thrilling new material
As an influential post-punk band, The Skids are said to have influenced other greats, such as Manic Street Preachers, U2 and Green Day - the latter two released a charity cover of The Skids' single 'The Saints Are Coming' in 2006, which helped to propel the band back into the spotlight. Some of The Skids' greatest hits, like 'Into The Valley' and 'Melancholy Soldiers', were released around the same time, just after their debut album - a record that was lampooned by the critics but gained them a great following among punk fans and unprecedented support from Radio One DJ John Peel. Despite being a young and polarising band, The Skids enjoyed a meteoric rise and went on to release further songs that were a hit for their anthemic choruses, screechingly angry guitars and somehow uniquely Scottish sound. Although they might have dialled back the young fury a little bit, The Skids still have an electrifying on-stage presence and is at its very best experienced live: a truly legendary experience.
