The Sound of Music San Antonio Tickets
The Sound of Music
The Sound of Music brings the extraordinary true story of the Von Trapp family to the San Antonio stage in a show The LA Times describes as “sparkling, fresh and lively.” Written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, the music continues to connect with audiences, with familiar songs like “My Favorite Things,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Edelweiss” and the title song “The Sound of Music.” Winner of Tony, Grammy and Academy Awards, the current production promises to thrill a new generation of theatergoers.
This story takes place just before World War II, when the winds of change are blowing but Captain Von Trapp’s concerns are closer to home. He needs a new governess for his children. The local convent sends the novice Maria so she can discern whether the monastic life of a nun is best for her. Through kindness and a compassionate confidence, she connects with the children in a way no other governess has. Her way with the children catches the eye of the Captain, who is engaged to be married but finds his affection for Maria growing. This beloved story of romance and courage unfolds as the world falls apart and they must escape the Nazis to preserve their family.
