Tim McGraw, born Samuel Timothy McGraw in Delhi, Louisiana, in 1967, has been one of country music's most reliable voices since the early 1990s. He grew up in Louisiana, picked up guitar in college, and moved to Nashville in 1989 to chase a music career. After a slow start with his 1993 self-titled debut, he broke through the next year with Not a Moment Too Soon, which became the best-selling country album of 1994 and topped the Billboard 200.
That early run set the tone for a career built on stadium-sized singalongs and durable songwriting. McGraw has released 17 studio albums, ten of which have reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart. His catalog has produced 65 singles, 25 of them number one hits on the country charts, including "It's Your Love," "Just to See You Smile," and "Live Like You Were Dying," each the top country song of its respective year according to Billboard Year-End. He has sold more than 80 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2026.
Live, McGraw pairs a deep catalog with a full band, The Dancehall Doctors, his touring group since the mid-1990s. His Soul2Soul II Tour with his wife, Faith Hill, remains one of the highest-grossing tours in country music history. Whether he is playing an amphitheater, an arena, or a festival stage, McGraw leans on the songs fans grew up with and the storytelling that made them stick.
