Tina Guo Tickets
Originally from Shanghai, Tina Guo is a Chinese-American performer who is most noted for her virtuosic skills on the cello and the erhu, a traditional bowed musical instrument from Asia. Using a significant amount of improvisation in her compositions and live performances, Guo is well known for her flamboyant style. Her stage presence is considered by many to be almost as important as her musical ability. Guo will often wear elaborate costumes when she takes to the stage, and her past shows have featured many theatrical touches, such as light shows and electronic backdrops.
Guo’s musical style is hard to pin down. She is at home playing in a variety of musical styles. As well as classical pieces, Guo is known to perform sections of film scores, popular songs and renditions of jazz pieces. Born in 1985, the artist is signed to Sony Music.

Some notable performances in Guo’s past include national tours of Mexico and Italy, which she conducted using a selection of pieces by Dvorak, Haydn and Shostakovich to showcase her cello skills. Guo has also played the violin professionally, for instance, when she took to the stage of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles with the renowned Dvorak American String Quartet. As a soloist on both cello and erhu, the musician has performed alongside some established orchestras. These include the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, the San Diego Symphony, the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra in Canada and the Thessaloniki State Symphony in Greece. In 2015, Guo took part as a special guest soloist at the Krakow Film Festival, held in Poland.

Guo has made many recordings during her career, both of her own compositions and of classical works. Her first solo release was a new age album with many classical overtones that was called Autumn Winds. Other solo works include Ray of Light, Eternity and Journey. The last of these was nominated for a Grammy Award under the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. She has also released a festive album entitled A Cello Christmas.
Among the many films that Guo has recorded parts for movie soundtracks for are Clash of the Titans and Iron Man 2. She has also contributed her musicianship to films such as Sleepy Hollow, Sherlock Holmes and the award-winning Inception. As well as her film work, Guo is in demand as a session musician with other popular artists. She has featured on a John Legend album, for example. Other artists she has recorded for include Ciara and David Archuleta.
