Tinie Tempah Biography - Hype Builds for Third Album
Conceiving his current moniker after watching So Solid Crew's video for track '21 Seconds', Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu grew up in South East London and found his way into music after joining grime collective Aftershock Hooligans. Despite the group gaining significant airplay, he decided to go solo, teaming up with his cousin to form an independent label to give the UK an equivalent platform to Def Jam in America. Building an impressive fan following based on just one release, Okogwu brought more than a thousand music lovers to see him perform at Wireless Festival in 2009, prompting music industry honchos started to take notice. Parlophone won the intense competition to sign the rising star, and his first single 'Pass Out' landed straight at number one spot in the UK charts.
Okogwu spent 2010 building a profile, playing festivals and touring with the likes of Tinchy Stryder and Mr Hudson, and quickly became one of the most popular artists in the UK music scene - as second number one single 'Written in the Stars' proved. By the end of the year, his debut album Disc-Overy had also hit the top spot, earning him his first two MOBO Awards. Second album Demonstration arrived in 2013, featuring massive names in Ella Eyre, 2 Chainz, Labrinth and more. A collaboration with Cheryl Cole on single 'Crazy Stupid Love' helped to reinvent her style, and he also guested on the Ellie Goulding track 'Hanging On'. 2015 saw fans treated to two singles from his upcoming third album, and with the record expected to drop in the next few months, he'll debut new tracks at Brixton's O2 Academy in April.
