Born in 1950, Tom Petty was a beloved American singer-songwriter, record producer, instrumentalist, and sometimes-actor. Celebrating this unique rock musician is Petty Theft, a tribute band that plays the music of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. Occasionally members of the original band even join Petty Theft. Since the passing of Petty in October 2017, this rock and roll tribute band keeps his music alive for diehard fans of the musician and introduces it to a new generation. Revered classics, in addition to Petty's more recent hits, make up the Petty Theft band’s live concert setlists. Catch the band live; grab your Tom Petty tribute tickets at StubHub.
Tom Petty Tribute background
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers originally formed in 1976 and stayed together until 1987, when they released the album, Let Me Up (I've Had Enough). In 2002, they officially became part of music history with their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Musicians in Petty Theft keeping Tom Petty’s music alive include Adam "Bagel" Berkowitz on drums; Dan Durkin on lead vocals, guitar and harmonica; Django Bayless on bass and vocals; Michael Papenburg on guitar; and Monroe Grisman on guitars and vocals. Together since 2003, this Tom Petty tribute band is devoted to touring the country and playing Petty’s music. Their performance centers purely on the celebration of the music of this American songwriter, and not on the band's costumes or putting on a spectacular show. They might be playing such favorites as "American Girl," "Apartment Song," "A Woman in Love," "Change of Heart," "Don't Come Around Here No More," "Learning to Fly" or "Stop Draggin' My Heart" as well as others known and beloved to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers fans.
