V Festival Tickets
Hosting some of the globe's biggest superstars every August, musical bonanza V Fest was one of the UK's best-loved festivals for over 20 years before it was replaced by Rize Festival in 2018. Hosted simultaneously in two lush stately parks – Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in Staffordshire – each artist performed at one venue on a Saturday, followed by another on the Sunday.
At its peak, the festival's immense pulling power and ability to bring the world's biggest stars all to one place drew in more than 170,000 music fans; making V one of the most popular festivals on the UK calendar. The last edition featured the only European performance by Jay-Z in 2017, as well as sets from pop star Pink, garage-icon Craig David and grime master Stormzy.
After the event, founder Richard Branson announced that V Festival would be discontinued, but confirmed that a new festival (later unveailed as Rize) would take its place.
V Festival's final lineup
As with every year, V Festival's initial 2017 lineup depended on the venue. Fans at Saturday's show at Weston Park were treated to Jay Z as a headliner. Supporting him were Pete Tong – presenting his Ibiza Classics backed by the incredible 60-piece orchestra Heritage Orchestra – singer Ellie Goulding, and rapper Stormzy.
On the other end, Hyland Park's Saturday lineup was just as impressive, with global superstar Pink headlining. Supporting her was the Drum 'n' Bass masters Rudimental, the evergreen Craig David and breakout singer Jess Glynne. Other artists to make an appearance included Jason Derulo, James Arthur, Clean Bandit, George Ezra, Madness, Sigma, Dizzee Rascal and a host of others.
Jay-Z and Pink's appearances were especially exciting given that both artists weren't seen on stage for a couple of years previous. While Jay-Z was busy expanding his music streaming service, Tidal, alongside an induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (making him the first rapper to receive the award), Pink had steered clear of the limelight since 2013, when her last album Magna Carta Holy Grail was released.
V Festival's glorious past guests
This eclectic weekend musical event has been creating unforgettable summer moments since its debut year in 1996, having been created after Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker expressed an interest in performing at two different outdoor venues in two days.
V's inaugural year was a sure sign of things to come with stars on the bill including Pulp, Paul Weller, Super Furry Animals and Gary Numan. It was decided to split the event between two different outdoor venues in Warrington and Chelmsford, allowing audiences in both the north and south of England a chance to enjoy the music.
The rock and pop event eventually grew to settle in the grounds of Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in Staffordshire. Having hosted rock royalty such as Blur, Coldplay, Foo Fighters – not to mention pop icons Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake – memories of V Festivals down the years will be cherished by the hundreds of thousands of music fans who attended.
