We Will Rock You, a musical based upon the songs of Queen, features a book by Ben Elton. The musical tells the story of a troupe of Bohemians who have made it their goal to restore the free exchange of thought, fashion, and live music in the distant future, to prevent a world where all of its inhabitants dress, think, and do the same. In that feared distant future, musical instruments and composers are prohibited, and rock music is nearly nonexistent.
With direction by Christopher Renshaw and choreography by Arlene Phillips, the original West End production made its opening at the Dominion Theatre on May 14, 2002, starring Tony Vincent, Hannah Jane Fox, Sharon D. Clarke, and Kerry Ellis in the show's core roles.
