Since it was found in 1963, the team has won more than 20 regular season conference championships and 10 tournament conference championships. Weber State posted some of its best seasons early on in program history. It advanced to the Sweet 16 in both 1969 and 1972 and finished with a 26-3 record and No. 17 in the AP polls in 1980. It has returned to the NCAA Tournament several times since then, beating No. 3 seed Michigan State in 1995 and No. 3 team North Carolina in 1999. The team’s best-known alum, Damian Lillard, played for the Wildcats between 2008 and 2012 and became one of the leading scorers in the country. He went No. 6 in the NBA draft, won the NBA Rookie of the Year award and received All-NBA honors.
