Will Heard Tickets
A London-based singer and songwriter, Will Heard was raised in Wandsworth and came to prominence with Klangkarussell, an Austrian electronic duo. Their single “Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)” was a massive hit and featured the vocal styling of Heard. Released in August 2013, it reached number three in the UK singles charts and hit the top spot in the Netherlands. The track was also a hit in Ireland, Germany, Austria, France and Switzerland. Heard also took part in a single released by The Aston Shuffle, the Australian house music act, the following year, which brought him to a wider audience.
However, Heard is better known as a solo artist for his blend of popular soul and jazz songs, rather than his collaborations in electronica. He has been performing as a live musician and singer since 2011. He can play sax, guitar, drums, piano and bass.
Will Heard's career milestones
Born in 1991, Heard began his musical career as a teenager. He began writing his own material at an early age. However, in the first few years of his career, Heard did not venture far from his corner of southwest London and was relatively unknown. He cites the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Nina Simone, Led Zeppelin, Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill and Parliament Funkadelics as influencing his style at this time.
Heard's first break came in 2013, when his vocals were used on “Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)”. At the time, Heard had been focusing on his saxophone work for Elli Ingram, an artist signed to MTA Records. The hit took some in the music industry by surprise. However, after Heard recorded a demo acoustic version of the song with the former model Cara Delevingne, and posted it on YouTube, the realisation soon came that Heard was going to be no one-hit wonder. The video received millions of views in just a few months.
In 2015, Heard got into the UK charts once more, featuring on the song “Nothing Left” by Kyogo. He then went on to record with Rudimental for their We the Generation album. He has also spent time in the studio with artists such as Tom Misch and Dillon Francis.
Will Heard's solo work
In February 2017, Heard put out his debut solo release, an EP named Trust. A video was shot for the track “I Better Love You”, which was made available via Vevo. “Beep Me” was also released as a single. The EP was made available for digital download and streaming services on the Black Butter record label.
