Wooden Legacy TicketsThe Wooden Legacy is an eight-team tournament that brings together top Division I teams from across the country for the Thanksgiving season. From major conference to mid-major programs, a wide range of teams are chosen to compete for the tournament championship. The origins of the tournament date back to the first annual John R. Wooden Classic in 1994. This doubleheader event was played to honor the legacy of legendary head coach John Wooden (the Wizard of Westwood), who won 10 championships with the UCLA Bruins in the 1960s and 1970s. Wooden imparted a lesson of character and passion to all of his players. In 2013, the Wooden Classic merged with the Anaheim Classic to create the modern Wooden Legacy tournament. The Anaheim Classic, which began in 2007, provided the setting and the format for the event. If you want to catch an exciting basketball game that honors the sport’s greatest coach, then you can purchase Wooden Legacy tickets at StubHub, a leading source for live events.
What is the format of the Wooden Legacy tournament? The Wooden Legacy tournament takes place over three rounds across both a winner’s bracket and a loser’s bracket. The four winners of the first round advance to the semifinals, while the losers go on to play in a consolation bracket. The two losers of the consolation bracket then play in a seventh-place game, and the winners compete for fifth place. Meanwhile, in the main bracket, the two teams that emerge from the semifinals advance to the championship game, while the losers compete in a third-place game. This format ensures that every team is ranked from first to eighth based on its performance in the tournament. All teams will play exactly three games, whether they win or lose.
