World Championship Ice Racing TicketsOrganized World Championship Ice Racing dates back to 1977 when speedway racer Gary Desmond first established International Championship Events (ICE) to showcase indoor speedway ice racing, a thrilling sport that employs the use of motorbikes that are brakeless but that have special gripping studs for traction on ice-covered speedways. The first championship took place on January 13, 1977, at the Oklahoma State Fair Coliseum. In 1985, ICE introduced the Quad and Trike Divisions (or four and three-wheelers). Due to liability issues, the three-wheelers did not last as part of ICE. The Quads, however, have become a major racing division for ICE to this day. In 2004, ICE added X-KARTS to the World Championship ICE Racing Series. In the winter of 2005, ICE introduced the Inaugural Manufacturers World Cup ICE Racing Championships. This brought together the most state-of-the-art motorbikes to hit the ice with the best riders in the sport. It has come to be thought of by many as the greatest spectacle on ice.
