About the Artist
Amy Grant was making people listen from the start. She recorded
Mountain Man, her first song, in 1976 and put it on a demo tape for her parents and church leader who then played it for some
friends and eventually landed Amy a contract with Word Records when she was just sixteen years old. She released her first
self titled album while still in high school and continued working on music while attending Vanderbilt University until she
had to drop out to focus on music. Her 1982 album Age to Age firmly established her as the premiere Christian music chanteuse
and she continued releasing albums to an ever growing audience. To date she has recorded 15 albums: Amy Grant, My Father's
Eyes, Never Alone, Age to Age, Straight Ahead, Unguarded, Lead Me On, Heart in Motion, House of Love, Behind the Eyes, Legacy...
Hymns and Faith, Simple Things, Rock of Ages... Hymns and Faith, Somewhere Down the Road, and 2013's How Mercy Looks from
Here. In her career she has won 25 Dove Awards as well as six Grammy Awards with more surely to come as she continues to record
By 1985 Amy Grant was looking to take on new challenges including becoming the
first Christian singer to cross over and achieve mainstream pop success. Her album released that year, Unguarded, showed off
a more polished, pop, and radio accessible sound as well as pictures of Grant in leopard print which some of her longtime
fans took as too provocative. However, the album did indeed prove to be a crossover success and spawned the hit Find A Way
which became the first Christian, non-Christmas song to break into the Billboard Top 40. Two other singles from the album
also charted, Stay for a While which hit number 18, and The Next Time I Fall in which she sang a duet with Peter Cetera which
was her first number one hit single. She continued to achieve crossover success with subsequent releases and remains a force
in the music world both in Christian music and mainstream pop.
Inside a packed house, the
lights dim and legendary Christian singer Amy Grant makes her way onto the stage. The crowd erupts as she makes her way to
the center of the stage and the microphone stand. She cues the band and they play the opening notes to a hit jam from one
of her albums like Amy Grant, My Father's Eyes, Never Alone, Age to Age, Straight Ahead, Unguarded, Lead Me On, Heart in Motion,
House of Love, Behind the Eyes, Legacy... Hymns and Faith, Simple Things, Rock of Ages... Hymns and Faith, Somewhere Down
the Road, or How Mercy Looks from Here. As the night goes on the hits keep coming and you and your friends are dancing and
singing along to song after song. Maybe if it's the right time of year you will get to hear Amy sing one of the songs from
her Christmas album The Animal's Christmas. Always known to have an incredible stage presence and a heavenly voice. Amy Grant
really knows how to connect with her fans no matter how big or small the venue in which she is performing. She is one performer
any music lover will not want to miss when she comes to town.
Amy Grant's album Lead Me On was
chosen by CCM Magazine as the greatest Christian music album of all time.
