The Missouri Tigers boast one of the best basketball programs in Division I, and with that kind of reputation the team has naturally seen some great players hit the court over the years. Missouri Tigers Basketball History

It really all got started for the Tigers back in 1918, the year they won their first conference championship. They would add plenty more titles to that one over the years since, and in recent years they've become regular fixtures in the SEC championship game and even in the year-end NCAA Tournament. Their crowning achievement, as far as the Tournament is concerned, is making the Elite Eight a handful of times, including in 2002 and 2009. These days, the Tigers have been bringing in plenty of talented players from one season to the next, providing more than a few thrills as they look to keep up with tradition and continue making splashes in the extremely competitive SEC.

Missouri Tigers Basketball Trivia

Did you know that the Missouri Tigers won at least 30 games twice in four seasons?

It first happened in 2008-2009, as the Tigers nearly ran the table and went 31-7 on the season, marking one of the greatest years in program history. In fact, the Tigers liked doing that so much that they decided to do it all over again in 2011-2012, when the Tigers again broke 30 wins and finished with an unbelievable 30-5 record on the season. With their 2008-2009 season, the Tigers also kicked off a nice run of five consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament, though that was eventually snapped in 2013-2014. Still, the Tigers made the best of it, making a strong showing in the NIT and reaching the second round to give fans plenty of optimism moving forward.
