2014 Oakland Raiders Schedule

With a team that has some serious potential and one of the most passionate fan bases in the entire NFL, the Oakland Raiders are back for another memorable season that is sure to have more than a few great moments as they look to make some serious noise in the AFC West. It's never easy in the same division as the Broncos, Chiefs and Chargers, but the Raiders have a tough team that definitely isn't going to go quietly this season as they look to put it all together and take their next step forward. With a schedule loaded with possibilities, there is nothing quite like being there for all of the top matchups of the season, as anything can happen once Oakland takes to the field this season.

Of course, one of the very top matchups of the season will be an Oct. 12 home game against the Chargers, as Chargers-Raiders has turned into one of the best rivalries you'll find anywhere and the Raiders will have a serious test trying to slow down Philip Rivers. An Oct. 19 game against the up-and-coming Arizona Cardinals also will be an exciting matchup for fans, as the tough Arizona defense will provide a nice challenge for the Raiders as they look to find their stride on offense. A Nov. 9 game against the Denver Broncos will also come with plenty of fanfare, as will a Dec. 7 game against Bay Area rivals San Francisco.

It's certainly not only about the home games, however, as you can count on there being plenty of silver and black in the stands wherever the Raiders end up playing this season. A Nov. 2 game up in Seattle against the defending champion Seahawks is the perfect excuse for a road trip, and you can bet that a Nov. 30 game in St. Louis against the Rams will be one overflowing with passion and intensity. The final game of the season in Denver against the Broncos on Dec. 28 will give the Raiders another crack at one of the top offenses in the league, and it could have all kinds of playoff implications. All in all, the 2014 season is loaded with opportunities to head out and see if the Raiders have what it takes to make a run at the playoffs.

Oakland Raiders Team Info

The Oakland Raiders are looking to score some big wins this season, and they're hoping that a stellar rookie class can help them in that cause. The Raiders were ecstatic to see linebacker Khalil Mack drop to them at the fifth pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, as Mack looks like a great bet to turn into a Pro Bowler thanks to his natural instincts and versatility. The team used their second-round pick to select quarterback Derek Carr out of Fresno State, giving them some major hope at the quarterback position as the Raiders look to develop him into a starter.

After picking up Matt Schaub and Maurice Jones-Drew, the Raiders also added some much-needed veteran leadership and skill to an offense that does have lots of ability already, giving fans hope that they'll be able to move the ball very well throughout the season. With a tough defense and an improving offense, the Raiders are looking to make a major move in the AFC West as they look to pile up the wins and be a factor in the playoff picture.

Oakland Raiders History

As a member of the AFC West division, the Raiders annually compete with the San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs, developing rivalries that run very deep. The Raiders organization originated in Oakland, moved to Los Angeles for a time, then returned to Oakland, where they were welcomed back with open arms. NFL tickets to see the Raiders have been available since 1960, when the team first became a charter member of the AFL. The team carries a tradition of excellence, and they have held up that moniker with several conference and league championships, as well as a series of great players whose busts sit in the Hall of Fame, including Art Shell, George Blanda, Gene Upshaw and Howie Long. Legendary coach John Madden also became an icon while heading the silver and black, helping to make the Raiders one of the most recognizable pro sports franchises on the planet.
