South Florida Bulls Basketball Conference
The South Florida Bulls play in the newly formed American Athletic
Conference which is also now the home of a few former Big East schools including the University of Connecticut and South Florida.
The Big East has been in a tumultuous state for many years, with clashes between programs that had football programs and those
that did not. The newly formed American Athletic Conference boasts schools from Texas to Florida and all the way to Connecticut.
The dynamic conference has proven to be one of the best in men's college basketball since forming last year, with teams like
Cincinnati and UCONN as perennial contenders. Cincinnati is the defending American Athletic Conference regular season champion,
but the UCONN Huskies won the National Championship in 2014, bringing a National Championship to the conference during its
first year of existence. Although it is only one year old there have already been changes in the American Athletic Conference,
with the departure of Louisville and Rutgers and the addition of Tulsa and Tulane. With the American Athletic Conference shakeup,
things may look a little different on the college basketball landscape, but no matter which conference they are in, the Temple
Owls are a team with a storied legacy that continues to find success. Expect big things to happen in the American Athletic
Conference in the years to come as new rivalries are established and it continues to prove itself as one of the premiere college
hoops conferences in the country.
Attending a top college basketball game is one of the
best experiences to be found in sports. Many of the top student athletes in the world take the court in college basketball,
when this is combined with some of the most passionate fans in all of sports there is an atmosphere in the arena that cannot
be found anywhere else. When you set foot in USF Sun Dome for a South Florida Bulls home basketball game this will all be
clear. As the teams set up for opening jump ball the fans get on their feet and loudly cheer for their alma mater and hometown
favorites. The game continues full of end to end action, big time shots, and clutch defensive stops. All of a sudden the clock
is winding down in the second half and the two sides are wrapped up in yet another tight contest. Your palms get sweaty with
each trip down the floor and each time a player from your favorite team lets loose a shot you hold your breath until the ball
tickles the twine. This continues until the final buzzer when the Bulls' side erupts after another big win and their fans
exit of the arena in jubilation. The moment you leave USF Sun Dome you will want to immediately start planning your next trip
to the venue to cheer on the Bulls.
Six former South Florida Bulls have gone on to play in the
NBA: Dominque Jones, Curtis Kitchen, Gary Alexander, Chucky Atkins, Jim Grandholm and Solomon Jones.
